B. Roberts Foods — Charlotte, NC

A M King provided B. Robert's Foods, a regional distributor, preparer and packager of ready-to-eat foods for the grocery and restaurant industry, with full design build and process engineering services for their new food processing facility in Charlotte, NC.  This project consisted of taking an existing 80,000 SF facility that had previously housed manufacturing and warehousing operations, and converted it into a USDA certified facility for the production of foods for the retail grocery industry.  This facility features a 42,000 SF food preparation area for sauces, salads, side dishes and ready-to-eat entrees.  The entire food preparation area is cooled to a temperature of 45 degree Fahrenheit utilizing a new Freon refrigeration system.  The facility also consists of four blast freezers and multiple coolers at varying temperatures that range from -10 degrees Fahrenheit to 35 degree Fahrenheit for the storage of finished goods as well as temperature sensitive ingredients.  Dry and liquid ingredient storage areas are also being provided, as well as a quality assurance lab, USDA inspections office, shipping and receiving docks, administrative offices and employee welfare and amenity areas.
