ALDI Food Distribution Facility — Frederick, Maryland
This new 500,000 square foot facility included 130,000 square feet of cooler and freezer space and 17,000 square feet of class A office space on a 75 acre site. The project consisted of a structural steel frame with architectural precast wall panels, two-part high density floor slab, and 105 fully automated dock bays. Refrigerated space was serviced by fan coil units located in rooftop penthouses with cooling air distributed by ductwork. Over 500,000 square feet of exterior concrete paving was installed for all truck and auto parking and drives. A M King Construction provided site analysis and due diligence for the site selection, as well as management of the project approval process. The total construction duration from start of foundations to substantial completion was 12 months.
